What inspired your early passion for travel?
My travel journey officially kicked off in 2010, but the roots of my wanderlust go way back to my childhood. Family holidays were such an important part of my early experiences. Whether we were camping in the stunning landscapes of the UK, taking short trips across Europe, or exploring far-off destinations, I was lucky to be introduced to diverse cultures and beautiful places from a young age. Looking back, I am grateful to my grandparents for igniting a spark within me that fuelled my curiosity to explore further and discover all that the world has to offer.
How did you start your career in the travel industry?
After earning my degree in travel and tourism, along with a master’s in events management, I was excited to start my journey in the industry. I began my career at small TUI travel agent retail stores, which felt warm and welcoming. These intimate settings were the perfect place for me to develop my skills and lay a solid foundation in delivering great customer service and creating memorable travel experiences for everyone.
As my love for travel grew, so did my ambitions, leading me to explore opportunities at larger TUI flagship stores. This transition let me dive into a vibrant environment full of possibilities, where I could continue to expand my knowledge and expertise in the ever-changing world of travel.
When did you realise the importance of bespoke travel experiences for clients?
While I was at TUI, my passion for crafting seamless travel experiences really took off. It was during this time that I discovered my true desire to help people fully customise their own journeys. This inspired me to start a new adventure by founding Travel By Bethany, a bespoke travel agency focused on creating unique and personalised experiences for everyone.
